The South African Schools Debating Board (SASDB) senior coaches hosted SA Senior Trials on 15 January 2021 via Discord. Debaters from all over South Africa joined in on the call to vie for the coveted spots on the SA teams.
The trials process involves debaters discussing motions in different speaker roles. Selectors chose speakers based on various criteria to produce well balanced teams.
Qasim Osman (recently appointed SA Shadow Coach) and Kyle Lyle attended trials as selectors from Limpopo. Coach Kyle has become a seasoned selector at SA Trials and the LSDA is grateful for his presence.
Realeboga Mmethi (Eagle’s Nest) and Tshiamo Maleka (Capricorn) attended trials as debaters. Realeboga was selected as a trialist during the national championship in December 2020 and Tshiamo successfully applied to participate.
Both had a successful trials experience and were selected to represent the country as debaters for the SA A team. They join the ranks of Madzanga Ramabulana and Qasim Osman as debaters who have made it to the international debating stage.
The LSDA congratulates Qasim Osman, Realaboga Mmethi and Tshiamo Maleka on their achievements.
